The story of the project started when I met Mr. Anand Bhave at an exhibition. He was exhibiting his hobby work or making furniture out of waste paper. He explained to me the method he use to make them, this was enough to inspire me to work on paper as an alternative material. The method that he uses takes 15 days to make a single chair. Realized that this was not scalable. I started thinking about what can be an alternate method to make anything on paper. The Industry had already figured out a way that they called is paper pulp molding which is usually used to make packaging. I decided to explore this process for making products.

Subsequently, I got a chance to pitch this idea to Prof. Avinash Shende. He was also excited and was also trying to figure out ways to make things on paper, especially in three dimension and complex surfaces.

Objective of the Project

The idea was to create a silhouette of the city on the curved surface of the form. When the light is on it creates a highlight on the silhouette.
