Emergency Patient Transfer System
Project Brief

  • Printer-friendly version

The aim of the project was to understand the present scenario and design the transferring device for patient by solving the problems faced by patient as well as for care takers.

i.e. to provide an 'Emergency Transfer' equipment to transfer the patient from different surface level to stretcher, trolley, hospital bed and vice versa.

The product was designed by careful study of the user activity which lead to new ideas for the patient transfer system. The product includes a system developed by using readily available "clothe" and "sccop" feature at the edge along the length of the product for convenient lateral transfer of the patient. "Tray" created by the side scoop and the handle along with the foot rest provides a rigid position for the patient during transportation on staircases, ramps and corridors.

The new device is light in weight and easy to operate and can be used to transfer the trauma patient from accident site or apartment to the ambulance, to the casualty bed, to the operation table and x‐ray table. It will help in stabilizing the position of patient while carrying. It is provided with the good grip for the care taker and will be operated by fewer caretakers. Also, it will be compatible with the other existing products.
