Marathi cinema is as old as Indian cinema. In 1913, Dadasaheb Phalke released first Indian silent movie ‘Raja Harishchandra’. Soon after V. Shantaram came up with his first Indian talkies movie ‘Ayodhyecha Raja’ in 1932. In last 100 years cinema travelled through many phases.

Now Marathi cinema has completed its 100 years. So it’s time to see the preceding journey of Marathi cinema. I am arranging movie from 1913 till May 2013 according to year, also emphasizing some of the famous celebrities’ journey through their awards as well their hits movies.

Since Prabhat film company played a major role in Marathi film industries (1929 - 1952) I am focussing on Prabhat film company in this endeavour. My project not only deals with the genres of how Marathi cinema evolution laying emphasis on certain personalities who has influenced and revealing the information on an exhibition wall. The purpose of this info-graphics helps movie lovers, beginners and film students to know more about Marathi cinema.
