Murudeshwar Temple, one of the famous Lord Shiva Temple, is located in Karnataka. The word 'Murudeshwar' means Lord Shiva. Temple houses world's tallest Shiva statue that stands at 123 feet (37 m) in height. The direct sunlight falling on the statue gives it a sparkling look. It is situated on a small hill called Kanduka-Giri which is surrounded by the Arabian Sea on three sides. The Murudeshwar Temple also has one of the tallest Gopura in the world made up of 20-storied at a total 249 feet. There are many carvings and statues in the temple that are a few centuries old.
