Clay animation uses characters which are deformable. These are shot frame by frame to give the illusion of movement. The models are made using a malleable substance like Plasticine clay. The basic volumes using thermocol, joined with aluminium wires for movable appendages. This skeleton is strengthened and covered with clay.
