Cinerama, invented by Fred Waller, was a process intended to achieve widescreen cinematic experience by deploying multiple projectors which simultaneously project the images on a huge curved screen. The photographic unit of the same consisted of three cameras, each recording one-third of the desired image. The cameras were mounted as a single unit arranged in a crisscross pattern similar to that of the projection system. The first Cinerama projection was conducted in 1952 with a film titled ‘This is Cinerama’.
