Toda village is situated in South India, in a hill station called Ootacamond (Ooty). People in this village live in typical houses called dogles. The huts are oval in shape and are made of bamboo and stones. The entrance is a tiny door; the purpose being protection from animals. The front part of the hut is decorated. The shawls they make have beautifully weaved geometric patterns. They are mostly white, red and black in colour. They also dress in a peculiar style. They are engaged in farming, cattle-herding and dairy farming.
