One of the vendors is selling the attractive masks and the headgears during the carnival.The colourful and entrancing mask and headgear become the most desirable things during carnival. All kind of people participate in the celebrations by entering the floats and wearing the colourful masks and attractive headgears.
The carnival begins with the Navy parade, followed by the colourful floats, at Vasco-Da-Gama, Goa.
Huge puppet of dragons and Dinosaurs adorn the floats of carnival, displaying the local artist’s creative talent.
Nowadays, the floats in the carnival also spread awareness of current social and environmental issues. This float tries to spread the message against female foeticide.
People appear on the streets during the carnival with their all sorts of creative and outlandish attires. One of the participants can be seen here dressed up as a clown during the carnival at Vasco-Da-Gama, Goa.
Individuals participate in the carnival as clowns, often with different themes according to which they create their costumes. This clown carries a message to stop discrimination based on colour or race.

Viva Goa, Viva Carnaval, if you happened to hear these songs around you, you can be sure that the carnaval is round the corner. In the 18th century, the Portuguese introduced the carnival (carnaval in Portuguese) to Goa. At that time, Goa was a colony of the Portuguese. At that time, the carnival was popular and celebrated in Rome, Greece, Spain and Portugal. Since its independence in 1961, the carnival has become one the most famous and colourful festivals of India. In the initial days, the Goa carnival used to spread amusement by playing a role play among the Portuguese authorities and their slaves. The rulers used to play the role of their slaves whereas, the slaves used to play the role of their masters by donning masks made of white flour. Gradually the Carnival influenced of Roman and Spanish celebrations saw the appearances of colourful masks, street dance, Samba, floats and attractive costume.
