Romania is a seventh largest country of the European Union. It lies bordering the Black Sea. Being a country largely covered with forests, the old Romanian civilization saw construction mainly with wood. This resulted in the wood being richly carved and decorated and also widespread growth of wood carving as a folk art. Today, one can easily find many traditional wood carved items sold as souvenirs throughout the country. They are usually covered with motifs and art works native to the country.
