Gujarat is the most promising hub of India for manufacturing of ceramic tiles. It is the home to many tile manufacturing units. I got a chance to have a glimpse of these beautiful tiles in one of the temples in Gujarat. Palitana is regarded as one of the most sacred places of pilgrimage for the Jain community. There are several temples carved out in marble on the Shatrunjaya hills in Gujarat. The marble flooring has several tiles of different patterns and motifs. They have geometric as well as floral patterns in various colours. I tried to capture a few of the many patterns one can see on the tiles in the temple.
