Embroidery is decorative needlework, traditionally practiced to embellish any material with well-defined patterns and designs. The authentic art of hand embroidery is detailed, as it takes hours of dedicated effort. Still, garments are often set through machine embroidery in today's technological advancements, giving many delicate stitches. This kind of craft has been passed to generations from local artisans, and hence the people derived different forms of work at domestic platforms. Also, the styles of embroidering vary from place to place and even village to village. Therefore, they enjoy other names at different locations.

With the advent of technological progress in textile work, embroidery work has also turned machine-driven. The process starts with digitizing designs, where an intended design pattern is electronically loaded or created over software. This is then understood by a machine working on software. After that, an appropriate fabric is set on the machine frame to take care of the rest by the electrified machine itself. The artisan has to monitor the process and make sure that no disordering is occurring. Here the machine generates the fed design onto the fabric with the help of single or multiple needles moving simultaneously. Tirumala Garments Training Center, based in Gurmatakal, Karnataka, is a skill development center approved by the Government of Karnataka. Various kinds of embroidery works are undertaken here, each incorporating different threads chosen upon the intended output.
