The entire Residency complex faced shelling and counter shelling over a long period of 5 months. Dr. Fayrer's was the Residency surgeon during the siege of 1857. Sir Henry Lawrence was shifted to this building after being wounded on 2nd july. He finally succumbed to his injuries on 4th July,1857.
