Creating Paintings in Computer Software

Draw the outline of the portrait in layer zero. and reduce the opacity to 20%.
Paint the basic colors of the portrait, fill the whole area.
Draw the eyes in a separate layer.
Use white to show the shine in eye and some brown near the eye lash.
Using a soft brush draw the shades in the skin. Add white for highlights.
The basic structure of lip is drawn with lighter colour.
With dark brown and maroon give shades for the neck and inner hair and with soft brush pimples are added.
With soft brush darker shades are given for hair, then with hard brush having small brush size the hair lines are done.
With light and dark brown hair lines are continued.
Light is added and to enhance it few hair line strokes are done in yellow.
Some hair lines are drawn in separate layer and they are blurred using Gaussian blur to create depth.
Colour adjustments are done and yellow coloured circles are blurred and used with reduced opacity to show sun flare effect.

Digital painting are basically creating paintings in computer software. Advanced softwares like Photoshop, corel paint, sketchbook provides virtual pencil, brush and paint which produces the texture of an actual material.
