  • Sagrada Familia, one of the most famous and architecturally ambitious cathedrals in the world, is still under construction after centuries.

  • A view from the inside of the cathedral, showing massive stone pillars and supports.

  • Neighbouring streets of Barcelona as seen from the Sagrada Familia.

  • Gaudi suspended metal chains downwards and studied their reflections in the mirror to derive the basic structure of the Sagrada Familia.

  • Casa Milà, commonly known as La Pedrera is the largest civil building designed by Antoni Gaudi. The apartment block was constructed between 1906 and 1910. It was Gaudi's last work before devoting himself to the construction of the Sagrada Familia.

  • Tourists enjoy the view of Barcelona spread in front of them from a tower of the church.

  • Reflections of a beautiful painted-glass window captured in the holy water inside the church.

  • An aerial view of the city of Barcelona basking in the setting sun.

  • Intricate cast iron street lamps line the pedestrian pathways. An interesting confluence of architectural styles can be seen in the city.

  • Sweetmeat sellers open up tiny shops dotting the street as people flood the walkways before Christmas.

  • Onlookers behold the beauty of a living aquatic mini-ecosystem at the New Science Museum in Barcelona.

  • An entire self-sustaining patch has been picked up from a tropical rainforest and has been kept inside the museum premises.

In this set of pictures I have tried to create a sneak-peek into the essence of Barcelona, Spain. While these pictures do not do justice to the fuller experience, I hope they will serve as a visual point of reference for the wonderful city.
