Title: 'Typokufia, from Kufia to Typography'

Abstract:  This workshop aims to create contemporary blend between motif design and typography to form typomotifs. Participants will use synonyms of words that imply positivity and communication to construct bilingual typomotif designs inspired by motif designs from the Kufia (Keffiyeh).

Materials/ tools to be brought by student participants:
Manual: Red Markers, Red papers, Cutters, Cutting matt. Digital: Laptops with Adobe (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).

Faculty, College of Fine Arts and Design, University of Sharjah

Artist, Designer, Educator, Founder of Bilarabic Design Festival and Director of Meta.motif masterclasses, Lecturer of Design at the College of Fine Arts & Design, University of Sharjah. Hold a Bachelor Degree in Visual Communication from the American University of Sharjah and an MFA from the Lebanese University. Taught design at the Higher Colleges of Technology, Lebanese University and Lebanese International University. Won several awards in Design & Photography. Work exhibited in Lebanon, UAE, Greece, Korea, KSA and US. Active since the early 1990s, she worked on Arabic Typography and prehistoric motif design research.
